ICNI-Strasbourg 2022 hosts the satellite IUPAC Workshop entitled “Interactions involving elements of groups 11, 14, 15, 16 and beyond” – Friday 22nd 2022 afternoon.

Investigations on the interactions wherein elements of Groups 14, 15, and 16 of the Periodic Table function as the electrophilic sites are flourishing.  Increasing evidences are emerging that also various elements of the d-block, typically Groups 11 elements, can act as electrophiles and form attractive interactions with a variety of donors of electron density.  The IUPAC Projects entitled “Categorizing Chalcogen, Pnictogen, and Tetrel Bonds, and Other Interactions Involving Groups 14-16 Elements” and “Categorizing Interactions Involving Group 11 Elements” aim at identifying and conveniently classifying the interactional landscape of the elements of the respective Groups.  The former Project already issued the “IUPAC Definition of the Chalcogen Bond” (Pure Appl. Chem. 2019, 91, 1889-1892).

The International Workshop entitled Interactions involving elements of groups 11, 14, 15, 16 and beyond” Strasbourg, 21st – 22nd July 2022 is organized as a joint event of the two Projects and aims at involving the main players in the field.  This IUPAC Workshop is a satellite event of ICNI-2022, the International Conference on Non-covalent Interactions (18th – 22th July 2022, Strasbourg, France).

It is our pleasure to invite you to participate to this International Workshop.  The scientific program of the International Workshop will comprise also a poster session (July 21st 2022) and we hope you will decide to take advantage of this opportunity.

Participants wishing to have their oral communication, poster to ICNI endorsed by the IUPAC Workshop are invited to formulate it explicitly when submitting their abstract.  We kindly ask all participants to ICNI wishing to attend the IUPAC workshop to state it when registering.

Prof. Giuseppe Resnati, chairman of the IUPAC Workshop Interactions involving elements of groups 11, 14, 15, 16 and beyond”.  For further information: Miriam Calabrese (e-mail: miriam.calabrese@polimi.it).
